Baltic Carbon Forum 2019 will be held in Tallinn
On 22 - 23 October, Industry leaders, academics, policy-makers and other leading experts will gather in Tallinn for the annual Baltic Carbon Forum (BCF) in Nordic Hotel Forum.
Organized by BASRECCS with the support from the Nordic Energy Research and Nordic Council of Ministers, the conference will gather more than 60 experts for a regional discussion about the value of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) in achieving emission reduction, as well as obtain business opportunities linked to CCUS deployment. The interactive sessions aim at matching up new partners and consortia, facilitating business development and new projects. Estonia has the most carbon-intensive economy in the OECD, making us the ideal host for this important meeting on the pivotal role of CCUS in the transition to a low-carbon economy. CCUS is the only technology capable of decarbonising the power sector and major energy-intensive industries such as cement and steel production.
This year, the BCF will feature the Secretary General of the Estonian Ministry of the Environment and Deputy Head of Tallinn Environment Department, as well as the Deputy Director General from the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. Furthermore, expert speakers from petroleum companies, energy and cement producers, investment banks, state-owned companies and research funds are featured in the program together with consultants and researchers from Estonia, Poland, Germany, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, England and Scotland.
The conference will be followed by the side event "Meet the Financing Institutions" on 23rd October at 17:30 - 20:00, organized by Nordic Energy Research. The event will allow to continue the discussions started during the BCF and help the stakeholders developing CCUS projects in the Baltic Sea Region to meet investment banks and research funds to discuss financing new potential projects.
