Shruti Appiah
Profile
Advisor & Visiting Scientist
Shruti Appiah directs cryptosystems and blockchain token engineering research at TalTech. She pioneered the field of cryptosystems by building the first agent-based simulations of an economic system on the blockchain. Since then, she has led token engineering research at the world's largest Ethereum studio, ConsenSys where she created the token engineering design process to bring a framework of ethics, resilience, and sustainability to systems built on Turing-complete blockchains. Previously, she was at IBM and Okta.
Today, she studies artificial economies enabled by smart contracts using multi-agent learning simulations in collaboration with the Santa Fe Institute. Shruti is a Systems Design Engineer from the University of Waterloo, and has been recognized in Canada's top 30 under 30.
